American GirlMattel: American Girl - As one of the leading brands for Mattel, American Girl experiences significant activity on their site during the holiday shopping season. They not only sell dolls and merchandise, but they are also a destination site for their fans. They made great use of SOASTA Performance Engineers and the ability to do external testing to ensure high performance throughout the holidays.

Best BuyBest Buy - One of the brands working with SOASTA partner Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Best Buy needed to prepare for the holiday rush. Hintdropper is a Facebook app that allows you to send a friend a hint about what you want for Xmas. This past holiday season it was tested up to 50,000 simultaneous users. Carolers is a similar app that allows for gift suggestions, was also tested.

BrightstarBrightstar - Working with big box retailers to fulfill high volumes of online orders, Brightstar built a very powerful fulfillment engine. As they needed to make sure the site could handle a max volume of orders, Brightstar utilized CloudTest to simulate the peak traffic.

CheggChegg Inc. - Chegg's innovative business of renting books, not unlike you would rent instead of buy a DVD, has earned them a spot on virtually every list of up-and-coming companies. It also creates huge demands at very specific times during the year. Read more

Cooper IndustriesCooper Industries - Cooper Industries relies on SOASTA CloudTest to help them conduct regular, internal testing on a number of applications and sites. Cooper takes advantage of the fact that with CloudTest inside their test lab, a testing team can conduct both load/performance tests as well as Functional/WebUI tests.

CrayolaCrayola - Over the course of testing a wide range of scenarios with Crayola we were able to identify characteristics that slowed down the site as well as measure the benefits of partners such as Akamai in offloading resources and increasing performance.

Jose CuervoCuervo - In partnership with CP+B, Cuervo launched a Facebook app that corresponded with a live music event run on Justin.TV. The app allowed visitors to vote on a performance. CP+B called on SOASTA to test the voting application prior to the live event.

Dominos PizzaDominos Pizza - A CP+B customer, they wanted to ensure that pizzaturnaround.com could support peak load levels expected on a target date for a major campaign. This test was designed to ensure peak capacity of 2 million unique visits per day; roughly 80,000 visits per hour or 1500 visits per minute.

GapGap - In conjunction with a major national TV ad buy, CP+B launched a site for Gap called Cheer Factory, which allowed visitors to send 'holiday cheers' to friends in the form of short videos of cheerleaders performing a cheer. They launched the site and after experiencing a flood of users, leveraged CloudTest to improve the website's performance.

Gilt GroupeGilt Groupe - They can accurately replicate the stress put on the infrastructure by their steadily increasing volume, as well as the dramatic spikes put into motion by “flash sales”. Leapfrog EnterprisesLeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. - A primary goal in testing was to identify any bottlenecks in the LeapFrog infrastructure. The scenarios simulated page views with slow ramp times. The virtual users were ramped up to identify the point at which the infrastructure became saturated.

Media GeneralMedia General, Inc. - This major media outlet, which runs a number of newspapers, television stations and web sites primarily in the Southeast, launched a new CMS used by all their web properties. In the deadline driven news world, Media General needed to make sure the platform performed well at peak times as to not impact their readers.

NewsdayNewsday - needed to test up to 3000 VUs for their online customer subscription application and did not have the pre-requisite licenses from their current vendor. They did several rounds of testing to improve the performance of the application, resulting in the confidence they could scale to meet expected demand.

NewsweekNewsweek - One of the Newsweek value-added services are quizzes and polls about topics ranging from President Obama to lifestyle. Such interactive applications need to perform in order to engage the user. CloudTest has also been used to test auto-scaling of the applications on the site.

Radio NetworkRadio network While we can't use their name, this is a particularly interesting customer because of the Apple iPad. Mobile apps, particularly those that offer a rich experience, are driving more users to websites than ever before. This network released one of the first, and most popular, iPad apps and used CloudTest to ensure they could scale.

SNL FinancialSNL Financial - SNL is the premier provider of breaking news, financial data and expert analysis on the business sectors critical to the global economy. The company was in the midst of relaunching their platform and came to SOASTA to perform baseline testing on both versions to make sure V 2.0 performed as well as its predecessor.

PictelaPictela - Originally came to SOASTA for functional testing, but saw a way to do performance testing without taking on additional workload. Pittsburgh FoundationPittsburgh Foundation - is a non profit that was doing load testing to find bottlenecks in their infrastructure. REA GroupREA-Group - Australia's No. 1 real estate web site regularly tests with CloudTest, simulating real search scenarios at a very high volume of virtual users. SchlumbergerSchlumberger Limited - Schlumberger launched an internal employee training portal overseas, but had no way of creating a load test that could simulate load from geographic locations outside of the US. Schlumberger harnessed the power of SOASTA's global testing platform simulating traffic coming from Chennai, India.
