The Widget Type list presents the following categories for out-of-the-box widgets:
Each of the categories has many widgets. A brief description indicates the purpose of each widget. Note: If external data services are configured, they appear at the bottom of the Widget Type list. |
Selected widgets in the dashboard automatically scroll this list to that selection. For example, expand the Basic widget category by clicking its right arrow. Place the mouse cursor over the widget to add, press and hold the left mouse button and drag the widget to a column in the dashboard workspace and drop it. The widget is added to the dashboard. Note: In the case of adding monitor widgets, first select the monitor from the Monitors section and optionally specify an Aggregation Level. The dashboard columns appear gray when a dragged widget is over the workspace. Once dropped, the widget will be placed at the topmost available space for the given column. |

Adding an External Data Chart to a DashboardOnce configured, an External Data Source appears by name in dashboards via the Widget Selection Panel, Widget Type section. If an external data source has not been configured, refer to Creating an External Data Service |
TIP: Once a widget from an external data source is in a dashboard, select it to also scroll to its location in the Widget Type list. |

The widget appears in position. For an existing dashboard or one associated with a test composition, an added widget inherits the result selection in effect for that dashboard.

Replacing a Widget in a Dashboard by Selection
Easily change a widget in a dashboard by selecting it to show the blue border and then by selecting different widgets from the Widget Type section, or keep the type and change the data in it by picking different results from the Widget Data section. This can be done to each contained widget separately.

Adding a Monitor Container to a Dashboard |
The Monitor Container permits defined monitors to be easily added to new or existing dashboards while maintaining a separate time range from the other widgets in it. Monitor Container can be added to a composition using the same procedures described above. In the screenshot on the right, the Widget Type > Containers list is shown. |
Note: The selection shown on the right is a previously defined Monitor Server Group. The Specify Server and Group Filters screen appears. |
If no time range or result is selected in the dashboard at this time, the widgets indicate that state with the posted message "No time range selected and time range controller disabled." |
